Poetry Prompt: Morals
Poets: Brittaina Goffy, Benjamin Thomas Serpell and Blaidh Nemorlith
Picture

Moral War by Brittaina Goffy

Your morals limp
Your choices unclear
across the drawbridge
you can only continue

Say no
or you can fight
their war,
a weak fight

the strong fight
of love and joy,
Die and let live or
live and let die

the drought scorches inside
Will them to stir,
your morals,
So you can choose,
weak life or
strong death

The Rime Of A Country Wanderer by Benjamin Thomas Serpell

@BTSerpell
The Rime of a Country Wanderer
Permit me for a moment
To share a pleasure I have,
To tell to all the joy I found
While wandering by myself.

The open world surrounds us,
So why imprisoned do we live?
Has mankind forgotten the joys
A pleasant walk can give?

To tread upon the earth,
To skirt the river’s course,
To find our own fond path
That named The Great Outdoors.

To escape from our own comfort,
And be at the mercy of the skies,
To realise once more
What life is; naked of disguise.

To feel the breath of nature,
The heather at one’s hand,
To gaze upon the waters,
And leave our footprints in the sand.

To be at last at liberty,
In actions and in mind,
To be once more with nature,
The womb of humankind.

Mor(t)ality by Blaidh Nemorlith

There was a snake and a tree,
Some trick involving a Granny Smith or Pink Lady,
Not sure if it was crone or maiden,
Got them kicked out of 'The Garden'
Trendy London night club,
Dragged her fella out too,
Yeah you know The Garden,
That new 'naked' nightclub,
Anyway, it was the beginning of their troubles...

Got home to find
That crazed catnip fuelled mind
Had caused their Ginger Tom named Cain
To cause harm to Tabby named Able,
Slain on kitchen floor next to dried out kitty litter,
They had the cat destroyed.

Several weeks later,
Grandson
Tried to kill Great-Grandson
To prove his loyalty to a bizzaro figure
Working at the local betting shop,
Big guy liked to play with dice
And wanted to know he had Ole Abe in his pocket
In case the Fraud dept. caught on to
his illegal attempt to
circumvent the rules,
ignore the blatant laws of physics.

The list goes on.

Seems mortality
Requires a morality
And this is the best one 'they' can offer...
...well ...I want my money back.
