That make the rains fall and the winds blow,
Are of a special race of giants.
One of these giants,
Bergbauer, was given a special hammer and chisel and charged with the duty of carving cracks into rocks,
He would chisel from the very tiny to the grand and magnificent,
Every imperfection was caused by him,
It made the world seem more human.
One day, Bergbauer was chiseling away, when he saw three children playing by a brook.
There were two boys and a girl,
They paddled in the water,
They swung on branches,
And rolled down the bank.
They seemed very happy.
Bergbauer enjoyed watching them,
He had no time for fun,
He had to perform his duty.
It bored him,
How he longed to have fun like the children.
He continued to watch as they played some more,
When suddenly,
One of the boys pushed the little girl over.
She landed in the mud and began to cry. The boys ran away and left the girl alone, She cried even more. Bergbauer didn't know what to do, He tried to cheer the girl up, By making the water splash, But he did not make waves like Wassergeist. He tried to cheer the girl up, By making the branches dance, But he did not have Flügelluft's wings, To cause a breeze. He slumped down next to the little girl, And began to cry as well. "Oh why can't I help this poor child!?" He slammed his fist against a rock, Causing it to shatter and roll into pieces. The pieces landed in a certain way, And looked like a face poking it's tongue out. |
Bergbauer was so happy that he grabbed his hammer and chisel,
And began to carve faces into the rocks all around them.
The girl chortled and snorted and cackled about,
The faces excited her and made her forget about what had happened,
She skipped home laughing all the way.
From that day,
Bergbauer decided he would always carve faces into nature,
He carved them on bark,
On stones,
And even began to push leaves together to make faces.
He asked Flügelluft to help by shaping clouds,
He asked Wassergeist to make ripples and waves that looked like people.
Bergbauer felt very happy with himself,
And he continued with his duty,
Making cracks in rocks,
and every now and then,
he would add in a face or two,
just for fun.
